Wring Savings
How Wring calculates the savings shown on your dashboard.
Your dashboard always shows two numbers side by side: the AWS direct price (what you would pay AWS on your own, at list price, excluding credits and refunds) and your Wring price (what you actually pay). The difference is your savings — calculated from real usage, never promised.
What counts as savings
Volume discounts
Discounts based on your monthly spend, applied automatically to your invoice. They scale with your spend tier, so growth improves your rate on its own.
Credits
Promotional, refund, or prepaid credits on your Wring account, applied oldest-first until used up. AWS-issued credits are shown too, separated from usage.
Commitments booked through Wring
Once a commitment you booked in Wring is active, its savings are counted here for as long as it runs.
Two rules keep the number honest:
- Savings are capped at the AWS direct price — they can never exceed what you would have spent.
- Every component is attributed — the dashboard breaks the total down, so a savings figure is always traceable to a discount, a credit, or a commitment you booked.
How the baseline works
The AWS direct price is computed from your synced usage records, excluding credit and refund entries — deliberately. Including AWS's own one-off credits in the baseline would make any provider look cheaper than they are. You compare list price against your real price.
Where you see it
- The dashboard savings summary shows the running month and the breakdown by component.
- Your monthly invoice shows the same conditions applied to the final, finalized amount — same data, same result.
