Jira

A WRING Funding panel on every issue — connect with a one-time code, then apply for AWS credits straight from Jira.

The Jira integration adds a WRING Funding panel to your issues. Open it on any issue that could qualify for AWS credits, and Wring drafts the application from the ticket for you to review and confirm.

Make sure the prerequisites are in place first — a Wring account, a linked AWS account, and a workspace owner to connect and approve.

Set up

  1. Connect. In Wring, open Connect your tracker → Jira → Connect Jira. A dialog opens and generates a one-time connect code automatically — there's nothing to click to get it.
  2. Install the app (if you haven't already). Click Open Atlassian Marketplace in the dialog and install WRING Funding on your Jira site, or search "WRING Funding" there yourself. Already installed? Skip straight to step 3.
  3. Paste the code. In Jira, open any issue → WRING Funding panel → paste the code shown in the dialog. The code is valid for a few minutes and works once — the dialog updates on its own once Jira uses it.
  4. Get approved. Your Jira site now shows as Awaiting approval. A Wring workspace owner approves it — from the same dialog, or later from the connected list — which turns the panel on for everyone on that site.
  5. Apply for funding. Open any Jira issue → WRING Funding panel → review the pre-filled application and confirm.

Permissions & access

  • What Wring asks for: the WRING Funding app, installed on your Jira site from the Atlassian Marketplace. Wring only reads an issue (and its comments) when you open the panel on it — there is no background sync of your Jira site.
  • Revoke anytime: uninstall WRING Funding from your Jira site (Atlassian Manage apps). Disconnecting inside Wring changes the connection's status there but doesn't uninstall the app — uninstalling in Jira is what stops it for good.

Troubleshooting

  • My code expired. Connect codes are single-use and only valid for a few minutes. Reopen Connect your tracker → Jira → Connect Jira for a new one.
  • I pasted the code but nothing happens in Wring. The site still needs a Wring workspace owner to approve it — check Connect your tracker for an Awaiting approval row.
  • Only workspace owners can connect Jira. Connecting and approving both require Wring workspace owner access — ask an owner on your team.
  • The panel says tracker connections aren't enabled. This feature isn't switched on for your workspace yet — contact [email protected].
  • The panel says funding isn't active for this workspace. Funding isn't unlocked for your account yet — contact [email protected].

Every application drafted from a Jira issue still goes through the normal funding review — see Connect your tracker for how connections and approval work.
