Linear
Mention @WRING on an issue — connect with Linear's own sign-in, then apply for AWS credits straight from the thread.
The Linear integration lets you start a funding check by mentioning @WRING on an issue, or by delegating the issue to it. Wring reads the issue, drafts the application, and talks you through it right in the issue thread.
Make sure the prerequisites are in place first — a Wring account, a linked AWS account, and a workspace owner to connect and approve.
Set up
- Connect. In Wring, open Connect your tracker → Linear → Connect Linear. You're redirected to Linear to authorize the app.
- Authorize in Linear. A Linear workspace admin approves the WRING Funding app, then you're brought back to Wring.
- Get approved. Your Linear workspace now shows as Awaiting approval. A Wring workspace owner approves it, which turns funding checks on for everyone in that workspace.
- Start a check. On any Linear issue, mention @WRING or delegate (assign) the issue to it. Wring replies in the thread with a draft application; reply CONFIRM when you're ready to send it — anything else just re-asks.
Trigger settings
A Wring workspace owner can adjust, per connection, what starts a check (Connect your tracker → Linear → Manage):
| Trigger | Default |
|---|---|
| @WRING mention on an issue | On |
| Delegating (assigning) the issue to WRING | On |
| A label on the issue | Off — an owner can turn this on and name the label |
You can also restrict checks to specific Linear teams. By default every team is included.
At a glance
| Surface | Conversation in the Linear issue thread |
| Trigger | @WRING mention or delegation (label optional, off by default) |
| Setup | ~2 minutes · sign in with Linear · owner approval required |
| Secured by | OAuth connection + workspace owner approval |
Permissions & access
- What Wring asks for: an OAuth connection to your Linear workspace that lets it read and respond to issues, and be assigned or mentioned on them — never admin access to your workspace.
- Revoke anytime: disconnect from Connect your tracker → Linear → Manage → Disconnect. Unlike some other integrations, disconnecting here also withdraws Wring's access on Linear's side — there's no separate step to remove it in Linear.
Troubleshooting
- I authorized in Linear but nothing happened. The workspace still needs a Wring workspace owner to approve it — check Connect your tracker for an Awaiting approval row.
- Mentioning @WRING doesn't start anything. Check that the mention (or delegate) trigger is on for the connection, and that your team isn't excluded by a team restriction.
- Only workspace owners can connect Linear. Connecting and approving both require Wring workspace owner access — ask an owner on your team.
- My reply didn't confirm the application. Only the exact word CONFIRM submits it — anything else, including "yes, do it", asks the question again on purpose, so nothing is ever sent by accident.
- The panel says tracker connections aren't enabled. This feature isn't switched on for your workspace yet — contact [email protected].
